APPLICATIONS OF COCONUT FIBER IN LIFE

Structure of coconut fiber

Coconut fiber
is made from the shell of the coconut. Normally, coconut fiber is a product that can create a lot of value-added products. Because coconut fiber is a 100% natural product, it is a recycled green product.

Most coconut fiber fibers separated from coconut shells are 4 to 12 inches long (1 inch = 2cm 54) and they are naturally brown and white. There are many countries that produce coconut fiber in the world, and now coconut fiber production in Vietnam is also very popular.

1. In handicrafts

People have been creative, using coconut fiber to make products such as floor mats, mattresses, bags, hats, ropes in boats, fishing nets… These products are cleverly designed, pure, create its own characteristics and become a symbol of Vietnam

2. In agriculture

Coconut fiber has very high applicability in agriculture thanks to its inherent properties. Used to shield and cover surfaces, reducing temperature and direct light. With very good water retention properties, it is often used to create some irrigation systems for irrigated agriculture.
In addition, coconut fiber substrate is often used for many different uses such as: covering the surface of the substrate/soil to prevent heat, prevent erosion, or you can mix coconut fiber with soil/peatmoss, rock. Perlite helps increase moisture and porosity, creating ventilation to stimulate root growth.

Coconut fiber is increasingly valued and created as useful items for farming. Typically, coir pots are made from coco peat and coconut fiber.

3. In construction

Today there are many production technologies, especially concrete production using coconut fiber. Thanks to its low cost, flexibility, elasticity, and ductility, coconut fiber is now a very popular material.
Some types of high quality coir are widely used in large-scale erosion control of riverbanks, irrigation areas and hills.

Normally coconut fiber takes 20 years to decompose, but this does not cause any damage to our environment. Most coir products are very hard and have excellent durability.

4. Coconut coir logs advantages

Prevent river bank erosion: coconut coir logs are used to firmly adhere to river banks, minimizing erosion caused by strong water currents. This helps protect riverside infrastructure and homes from the negative effects of flooding and erosion.

Supports aquatic ecosystems: coconut coir logs create an ideal habitat for aquatic plants and animals. They help maintain ecological balance, retain soil, and provide habitat for many important species in riverine ecosystems.

Coconut coir logs are exported to many places around the world. The popularity of this product is a testament to the effectiveness and value it brings in protecting the water environment and building a sustainable ecosystem.
