Description
Discover the power of Modified Rosin Resin
Alcohol-soluble maleic resin is made from maleic modified resin through esterification with Polyal Alcohol. It can be dissolved in alcohol solvents, dries quickly and has high gloss. It can also be used for water-based inks.

Classification Modified Rosin Resin
Pinus latteri is closely related to the Sumatran pine (Pinus merkusii), which occurs further south in Southeast Asia, on the island of Sumatra and in the Philippines. Some botanists consider the two to be conspecifics (under the scientific name P. merkusii, which was described earlier), but the Sumatran pine differs in having shorter (15–20 cm) and thinner (less than 1 mm thick) leaves, smaller cones with thinner scales, cones that open soon after maturity, and seeds that are about half the size of pine seeds. It is also related to the Mediterranean pine group, which includes the Aleppo pine and Turkish pine, with which it shares many characteristics.
Identification characteristics
Pine trees are highly resilient, thriving in heat, arid soils, and coastal climates. These large trees reach heights of 25–45 meters, featuring an ovoid crown and low branches. The bark is gray-brown at the base and orange-red higher up, often deeply cracked near the bottom but smooth and peelable on the upper trunk. The trunk, up to 1.5 meters in diameter, contains abundant aromatic resin.
The needle-shaped leaves grow in pairs on small branches, measuring 20–25 cm long, over 1 mm thick, and dark green. Short leafy branches, 1–1.5 cm long, attach spirally to larger branches. Pine cones are monoecious, with female cones taking two years to ripen. The cones are symmetrical ovoids, measuring 4–5 cm high and 3–4 cm wide when closed, expanding to 6–8 cm wide when open. The cone stalks are straight and about 1.5 cm long.
The cones have poorly developed bracts, and their carpels harden into wood as they mature. The diamond-shaped cone scales feature prominent ridges and a concave navel, each scale bearing two seeds. The seeds, measuring 7–8 mm with 20–25 mm wings, are dispersed by wind.
Uses of rosin
- Component and wire adhesive:
Modified Rosin Resin is now widely used as a glue, a soldering material in the fields of manufacturing electronic devices, components, etc. At solder joints, joints, rosin will act as an adhesive between components or wires. - Anti-oxidation:
– Rosin not only has the effect of soldering components or wires but also has the effect of removing oxidation on the surface of these solder joints and joints.
– Solder often adheres easily to non-oxidized metals and they will flow evenly on the electrical wires. The conductivity is therefore also significantly improved.
– Thanks to that, they will ensure more cleanliness, a shiny, bright surface and a tighter, more aesthetic connection. - Production of glue, ink, rubber:
In addition, rosin is also used to produce glue, ink, rubber production, paint production, … after it no longer exists in its original solid state. - Soldering tin, lead:
– In addition, nowadays, rosin is widely used to solder tin, lead. Rosin here will help clean the solder joints, reduce the surface tension of solder tin, lead solder. Thanks to that, tin, lead solder can adhere firmly to the solder joint while still ensuring the smoothness of the surface.
– Moreover, rosin used to solder tin, lead helps tin, lead to adhere firmly to the solder surface and thereby, forming an optimal anti-oxidation film of tin. - Production of soap, fuel:
Huong Nam Phat’s rosin is also saponified to produce soap, fuel or glue in industry.
Advantages of rosin
- Affordable price, suitable for many consumers.
- Supports soldering and attaching components quickly and easily.
- Brings a shiny surface and ensures the aesthetics of the solder joints.
- Helps the soldering tip to easily eat lead again. If your soldering tip does not eat tin, you can dip it in rosin, wipe it with a sponge and then the soldering tip will be shiny and easy to eat lead immediately.
- Safe to use
How to use rosin
You can directly dip the soldering iron into the molten solid modified rosin resin and drip it onto the places that need to be soldered. You can also grind the rosin into a powder and dissolve it with a solvent like IPA to use in liquid form.
