Meanwhile, the import of cassava starch from Thailand was only 1.07 million tons, valued at US $ 479.2 million, up 9.9% in volume and 5.6% in value over the same period in 2018. And imports from Cambodia reached 34.05 thousand tons, down 22.9% over the same period in 2018.

Therefore, the market share of Vietnam's cassava starch increased from 20.9% in the first 8 months of 2018 to 30% of China's total cassava starch imports in the first 8 months of this year.

The market share of Thai cassava starch from 75.5% has decreased to 67.5%. The market share of Cambodian tapioca starch decreased from 3.4% to 2.1%.


Information from the Vietnam Cassava Association said that at present, most cassava processing plants across the country have run the 2019-2020 crop. Supply of goods increased sharply, while demand from China has not increased, even though it has entered the cold season.
